A night where the table – playing the most challenging it has been for some time – was such that the class of the Division 1 side shone through.
Despite Stuart playing very well, Norm’s 2k+ break early on proved to be an insurmountable lead and so the first leg went the way of the visitors.
Ian struggled to pot anything and Dunc, also uncomfortable with the table, was able to establish a lead largely as a result of getting plenty of table time.
Leigh played well and was able to settle into a good rhythm eeking out a useful lead from his opening break. Lorin responded in kind to level things up but was unconvincing in the process. Leigh again got the break back on a further three occasions whereas Lorin simply could not match his opponent. 3-0 to the A team in what seemed like the blink of an eye.
Andy came to the Bee’s rescue in leg 4 playing a controlled game. Jel, playing his first match on the Red Lion table since it’s re-cover, was playing a slower top than it now is and so tended to apply too much power to everything.
In the final leg, Martyn played some excellent stuff whereas Andy (playing the 4 man rule) couldn’t repeat his efforts from the previous leg.
If the A’s continue this consistency they should find themselves safe in the top division at the end of this year. As for the Bee’s – they will now need to knuckle down to a series of tough matches against Division 1 opponents. The Division 2 table is about to get a lot closer!
