Another fabulous night at the Lion where the home team were delighted to welcome the Rose & Crown team.

In a fantastic opening leg Andy had a real tussle with away team captain Dass. Both playing well with some excellent shotmaking on display. In the end home advantage made the difference and Andy took a really competitive leg.

The second leg looked like it was going the way of Rose & Crown. Ian made a slow start whilst Rachel managed to build a useful lead. Mid way through the tide turned as Rachel started losing scores and Ian started to put things together more consistently. As the bar dropped Ian had built enough of an advantage to relax – 2-0 to the Bees.

Leg 3 was the game of the night and started with Adam making a personal best opening break of 1,040 – and taking the highest away break lead at the same time! By the time Adam had 1,400 or so on the board, Stuart had barely troubled the scorer. But after twelve or fourteen minutes the scene was different with Stuart taking narrow advantage. Back powered Adam in the latter stages to ensure the victory but both players achieved a great score in a fantastic leg.

The fourth went the way of home captain Lorin to secure the match win. Terry could not really string anything together and Lorin was able to score at will getting the break back on every visit to the table. An unfortunate black peg capped a write-off leg for the former Red Lion player.

Not to be outdone by his teammate’s effort in the third leg – Mark decided to have a little excursion into big break town himself. He started with an impressive 1,710 which was another PB on the night and wrestled the highest away break lead away from Adam. Things slowed a little after that with Sonya playing some good stuff only to hit a peg at inopportune moments. In the end it was comfortable for Mark who tied Adam’s score from leg 3.

A great bond is building between these two teams and we look forward t many more great nights to come.
