For the Storm, about to start a series of highly winnable fixtures, this one was a must. Conversely, for the Red Lion, amid a run of very tough games, this and the next few games will really test the resolve of the new team – hopefully they won’t get disheartened during this difficult period. The draw was fair and offered Dave the chance to break against Lorin – he did so brilliantly, racking up an opening 5k+ break. Lorin appeared out of sorts and simply could not string anything worthy together. An easy opener for the hosts. The second was a different story – nothing…….and I mean absolutely nothing fell for Jason. Countless balls went into the holes only to leap back out again. Andy, who needed a confidence boost took full advantage and played well to earn his first league victory and bring the visitors level. Matt looked very comfortable throughout the third leg and easily ended Dunc’s unbeaten run and extended his own in the process. The fourth leg saw Kevin given plenty of opportunities to rack up a strong victory over late substitute Jim. Jim had not played at all since his visit to the Jim Wilson and it was that lack of table time – coupled with the 9 or 10 pints that he had already consumed – that sealed his fate!! Finally, Nick – who was in some genuine pain – took the fifth leg comfortably against Martyn – who needs to end his stormy relationship with white pegs! Overall – another fine win for the Storm who go marching onward in their genuine title tilt!!
