This was a very close fought match as both team needed to earn points, both teams fighting until the end of the season for a place at the top of their respective divisions.
First up was Nick against Ted in what was a pretty even match – a little nervy – but you know what they say about a wise head (it just get’s bigger!) and Ted’s was just that, managing to get on the table for the last few minutes to get home. A good point and a good start for the Headlanders.
In the second Dawn messed up her opening break and then neither she or Dave could really get going. Eventually Dave got it together and won in style leaving Dawn the red ball so that she could show off with the 200 hole – but sadly it was not to be as she hit the dreaded black pin!
The third leg was a close encounter – particularly after Kevin managed to lose a few early on in the game by hitting the black peg. He worked hard, however, to get on terms through the rest of the game meaning that it got tense as it came down to the last ball – which it took them forever to pot. In fact, it could have even been a record as Kevin even attempted the 200 hole in frustration and missed that! The game seemed to go into extra time and we nearly had to ask the landlord for a lock-in. Mick finally managed the elusive 100 amidst loud applause.
Despite the impressive scoreline, the fourth was a nervy game too. Matthew dug in and put a good score on the board and although Kevin made a good comeback, he ran out of time. Although Kevin ended up losing the leg, he did compile the highest score of the night for his team.
In the final game Martin did not have a good start and Jason took full advantage, winning the game in style for the Storm team.
A really enjoyable evening.
