Recap

With Jason Neal bolstering the home side in a bid to play his minimum of five league games in order to be eligible to defend his Masters title, The Red Lion went into the match feeling bullish. This was enhanced further as Lorin took advantage of the chances given to him by Matthew in the first leg. Norm struggled with the table in his match against Jason Dunkley – who proved to be in good form and way too strong for the home player. Andy’s match against Kevin proved to be a vital leg for the home side. It was close throughout as neither player seemed able to build a substantial lead. In the end it was Andy who just edged it for the home team. Jase started the fourth with a solid break which all but secured the leg from the outset – Jon had little by way of reply. So, with the match in the bag, it was up to Dunc to put a real gloss on the performance and build a lead over Division 2 title rivals The Headlanders. That pressure would get to a lesser man but Dunc played brilliantly as he outscored Nick at almost every visit. A great home win for the Division 2 side and a humbling defeat for the Division 1 title challengers.
