Another excellent team performance. A few close ones but some determined play saw the Cons win 5-0 to keep the pressure on hot favourites for the title “Cardigan Arms”
4th leg was played first and Iestyn was in front for most of the game. However, Chas again showed real grit to nudge ahead towards the end of the game and secure a vital 1-0 lead by a very close margin
2nd leg saw Damo up against Steve. A nervous start from Damo and a good reply from Steve put pressure on the Cons player, but Damo has shown this season he is able to cope with – even thrive with pressure. A good finish made it 2-0 and secured Damo a “player of the match” (although Steve wanted to give it to Andy until Damo protested!!)
3rd leg followed the script with both players having chances but neither able to forge a decisive lead. Stew eventually did enough to make it 3-0
1st leg played 4th saw Chris start confidently and then leave the balls difficult. Andy potted 1 ball but also took a pin out with another leaving Chris with an opportunity to pot the 1 remaining ball and get the break back. He was unable to do so, and Andy then settled to run out a comfortable winner 4-0
Last leg saw Chas back in action, and he defeated Matt who never got going with a frustrating mixture of bad luck and unforced errors – 4 breaks on the trot being the memorable one. Another win for Mr Peel who this year has enjoyed his best season for some time – maybe ever?
