Due to The Cardigan Arms having a winter tour of America this game was a rescheduled fixture – and a massive one at that! With Division 1 consisting of four teams only, the gap between top and bottom may only be a couple of points at the end of the season so each leg is important. In the first leg Simon played Mary and, looking to maximise the advantage of the home break, he only managed to start with 600. Both players then played at the bottom of the table for a while with Mary losing an 800+ break along the way. Finally Simon did managed to get the break back and played well under some pressure to take the first leg convincingly. Jim played Michelle next and as with the first leg, Jim started poorly. However, it did not take him long to get the break back and finished the game off easily. Ian then had the break in leg three against John – who was fresh from his Inter Area selection. Unfortunately for John Ian started well and took the highest away break lead into the bargain. John never really got going after that and Ian put the away side into the lead. In the fourth Leanne looked to keep the home team in the match and led for most of the game – particularly at the end – when it matters most! So, a final leg decider between two of the league’s ‘big hitters’. Dave started with the break and looked good as he started with a good 4k break, however when a straight pot into the left 50 hole didn’t drop it allowed Stephen in and he took the chance brilliantly to finish the game off – maintaining The Cardigan’s unbeaten start to the season and reinforcing their title credentials.
