Recap
In a season of ‘firsts’ for the Red Lion team, this was their first Winter League victory – a great boost for the team as things will get much tougher yet. Jason struggled in leg 1 against an in-form Theo. It was only ever going one way. Dunc continued his great start to the season with a scrambled win against the league’s newest player, Aiden. Aiden will improve, of that there is no doubt, so he must be encouraged to keep playing. Norm just about edged out an increasingly frustrated Ray. Ray seemed to be distracted by the nuances of the Red Lion table and claimed it was ‘unplayable’. Still, he got another chance right away (playing the ‘4 man’ rule) and did seem to improve. Nevertheless, Lorin added to his woes and with that, secured the match win for the hosts. In the final leg Stevie proved way too strong for Andy who simply had no fortune and grew impatient in his play. This led to some poor shot selection and a steady deterioration in his game. Lessons to be learned for sure.
