Recap

The first game saw Damo take on Simon and Damo started with the break but pegged his opening score early on at around 2k. Simon got the break back swiftly and compiled a 4k break before leaving a ball short on the split. After some time played at the top of the table for both players Simon got the break back and finished the game – a good away start! Leanne missed the one-up early to offer Andy an opportunity but he could not capitalise. Leanne’s turn to take advantage and put together a 2k break to bring the game back to level. Both had chances after that to secure the point but neither seemed willing to stay on the table – finally, as the bar dropped, Leanne found herself a couple of hundred points ahead and did well to finish up thew game. Game three saw Stephen beat Jim convincingly to secure the match win and an unexpected loss of the first game of the season for the reigning champions. Home Captain Chas could not arrest the problems as he fell foul of Stephen again. Finally, and the best game of the night, was new signing Stewart vs John. Both players managed to get some creditable breaks but it was Stew that managed to take the leg for the home side in what was a very disappointing night for the hosts. They will be seeking to get back to winning ways next week. A great result for the newly promoted Cardigan who have underlined that they are genuine title contenders.
